INFORMATION SYSTEMS DIRECTOR

 

Reidsville offers an excellent opportunity to join their staff as a key management team member.  The city is searching for an IT professional with management experience to head its IT function.  The director reports to the City Manager regarding the planning and implementation of the strategic IT management plan.  Core duties include designing, installing, overseeing operation of the data and communication system network, determining needs and solutions, advising staff about the design and implementation, and administering projects, including designing scope, estimates of costs and turn key implementation.  A successful candidate has considerable knowledge of general municipal operations, financing and purchasing and advanced technical knowledge of hardware, software, and various applications and configurations.  This advanced technical knowledge must be coupled with the ability to communicate and plan the technology integration into the municipal environment for a variety of applications and purposes.  Progressive experience managing projects and personnel is preferred.  Bachelor’s degree is desired, preference for a graduate degree, in computer science, computer operations, or related and some management experience with IT projects and personnel; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Salary DOQ with anticipated hiring in $70’s, excellent benefits with superior retirement, no residency requirement.  Please send resume to:  Personnel Department, City of Reidsville, 230 West Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC  27320

 

Deputy City Clerk (City Manager’s Office)

 

SALARY RANGE:      $26,016 - $39,024

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:  Performs a wide variety of administrative, secretarial and records keeping duties, among them receiving visitors to the City Manager’s Office and answering the telephone. Works under the supervision of the City Clerk in maintaining public records. In the City Clerk’s absence, this position executes legal documents and attends and prepares minutes for City Council meetings. Assists the City Clerk in performing secretarial duties for the City Manager, Mayor and Council members. Maintains and files both regular and confidential correspondence. Assists other departments on a variety of special projects as needed. Performs related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Considerable knowledge of standard modern office practices and procedures and the principles of grammar, spelling and composition; ability to take notes at officials meetings and to prepare accurate minutes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, elected officials and co-workers. Ability to handle confidential information in a tactful and discreet manner.
  • Considerable knowledge of standard and approved practices and procedures employed in the processing, safekeeping and utilization of official municipal records and documents.
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge required in this position include knowledge of MS-Outlook, intermediate knowledge of MS-Word, beginner knowledge of Access and an intermediate understanding of the printing capabilities, operating system capabilities and virus capabilities.
  • Some knowledge of North Carolina General Statutes and of local ordinances governing the responsibilities of municipal clerks with general knowledge of the organization and functions of municipal government.
  • Graduation from high school supplemented by business courses and considerable experience in office management work, preferably including some experience in the safekeeping and care of public records; or an equivalent combination of training and experience; Notary Public designation preferred.

PART-TIME CAMP STORE CLERK

REIDSVILLE CITY LAKE

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:  Person will be responsible for collecting revenue, record keeping, taking camping and shelter reservations, selling fishing licenses and boat registrations as well as distribution of information and other duties necessary for daily operations of the parks office and camp store.  This position will also perform other duties as required. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Graduation from high school with excellent customer service experience and some experience in an office environment with public contact and cashiering duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  This position also requires a good knowledge and understanding of park operations and procedures.  Experience with data entry including Word and Excel is preferred. 

 

TESTING:

  • Pre-employment substance screening required.

 

POLICE OFFICER

SALARY RANGE: $30,117 - $45,176 (DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS)

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid North Carolina driver's license or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Candidates must be a high school graduate or have obtained a G.E.D. from an accredited institution.
  • Candidates will not be considered for employment by the Reidsville Police Department if they have committed a felony or serious misdemeanor.
  • It is preferred that the applicant be enrolled in B.L.E.T. or meet the standards set by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Council for certification as a law enforcement officer (B.L.E.T. certified).

RECREATION PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

LAKE REIDSVILLE RECREATION PARK

 

SALARY RANGE: $33,203 - $49,805

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:  Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises various programs and activities for the Lake Reidsville Recreation Park.  Activities include camping, picnicking, boating, fishing and disc golf.  Interprets and publicizes programs and activities of the department to the public through media and other means.  Manages program budgets and submits annual program and budgetary needs in conjunction with the overall departmental budgetary process.   Assists in the formulation and execution of departmental rules and policies.  Supervises temporary, part-time, and volunteer personnel.  Provides necessary liaison with other public and private groups and agencies.  Performs related duties as required.  Work is performed under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director.     

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in recreation administration or closely related degree and some experience in recreation, preferably in the municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license (Class C).

CITY OF REIDSVILLE

FIREFIGHTER

  

SALARY RANGE:  $26,016 - $39,024

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Provides responses to fires, emergency calls; administers life support techniques and procedures based on patient assessment, including all skills at the EMT level.  Responds to alarms and assists in the suppression of fire including rescue, entry, and ventilation and salvage work.  Provides responses to emergency calls and administers emergency medical care to include first aid, CPR, airway management, and oxygen administration.  Operates fire and emergency medical equipment, as certified.  Participates in post-fire operations of cleaning and salvage.  Completes necessary records and reports for fire calls and emergency calls including information for billing documentation and legal accountability.  Reports facility maintenance, radio, vehicle and equipment problems to appropriate level of authority.  Performs routine maintenance and servicing of equipment including washing and waxing trucks, checking batteries, checking fuel and oil levels, cleaning and drying hoses, inspecting hose and hose connections for damage and wear.  Attends in-service classes to maintain current knowledge of fire suppression and emergency medical technology; participates in physical training.  Performs related duties as required.

  

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION: Applicants must possess a valid North Carolina Class C driver’s license.  Emergency Medical Technician with defibrillator certification issued by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services.  Level II Firefighter Certification issued by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.  Subject to recruit school, departmental skill assessment and probationary trial.

TESTING:  Finalist must submit to a pre-employment drug screening and physical.

PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
