Loose leaf season begins Oct. 31

Reidsville residents can take their loose leaves to the curb for pickup beginning Monday, October 31, through the end of the year.

The City's traditional loose leaf season is November through the end of December or the first week of January.

The City's Public Services Division handles loose leaf pickup and hires up to six temporary leaf rakers and additional trucks to help with this temporary season. The Solid Waste Division continues to pick up bagged leaves for disposal throughout the year, including November and December.

It is anticipated that there will be once weekly collection of these loose leaves; however, this could be delayed from time to time depending on the volume of leaves and when they are raked to the curb.

City officials offer a few hints for those residents needing leaf pickup. They advise not to mix the leaves with other materials, such as brush, clippings and other debris. Vehicles should not be parked near or on top of piled leaves due to the risk of fire. Another risk is possible damage to residents' vehicles from the City equipment trying to collect the leaves. Residents are also urged not to block the travel portions of the streets with leaves or pile them on top of stormwater basins or grates.
