Girls Fast-Pitch Softball Program undergoes changes

The Reidsville Parks & Recreation Department is altering its girls fast-pitch softball program.

The girls 12-14 league will participate in the Northwest Youth Softball Association this summer with teams from Bethany, Huntsville, Colfax, Summerfield, and Oak Ridge. No games will be played at Jaycee Park.

Mike Martin and Kim Walker will coach the Reidsville teams with play starting in mid-May.

Girls will remain on the teams they were on in 2007 with new girls added to existing teams.

Parents must come by the Reidsville Parks & Recreation Department at 200 N. Franklin Street to pick up a registration form, which is to be mailed to a provided address along with the fees. The fee to play is $30 for all participants, or $60 per family. Parents are also required to sign a Code of Conduct on the form and also a medical release form. No registration will be taken at the Recreation Department for the 12-14 league.

The age determination date is Jan. 1, meaning whatever a child’s age is on Jan. 1 of 2008 is their playing age for the season.

Girls wanting to participate in the 8-11 league can register for the county league played with Eden at the Reidsville Parks & Recreation Department in the same manner as has been done in the past. The junior league will not participate in the Northwest league.

For more information, call Dale Hagwood at 349-1092.
