The Fitness Center, located on the lower level of the Parks & Recreation Center, 200 North Franklin Street, is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. Cost: $30 for six months for City residents; $60 for six months for non-City residents. Senior Citizens who are City residents receive a 10% discount. Visitors are welcome but must first report to the main office on the upper level. Ask for Ginnie Williams during the business hours of 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

May 2

From 5-9 p.m., a opening reception  for Richard Copeland's "Relationship & Solitude" exhibition will be held at The Gallery of The Fine Arts Festival Association of Rockingham County, 217 Southwest Market Street. The exhibit will continue through May 31.

May 4

On the campaign stump for wife Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton will visit Reidsville on Sunday night. He will speak at Reidsville High School in the old gymasium. Doors are expected to open at 9:15 p.m. (Subject to change) Clinton will be arriving at some point after 9:15 p.m. on his whirlwind tour of some 8-9 North Carolina cities.

May 5

The Canterbury Place Apartments Community Watch will meet at 4 p.m. on site.

The Wentworth Street/Acme Street Community Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at Baptist Temple Church.

May 6

ELECTION DAY!!!!

The RHS Apartments Community Watch will meet at 11 a.m. on site.

May 7

The Marcellus Place Apartments Community Watch will meet at 11 a.m. on site.

May 9

Downtown area streets will be closed from 6-9 p.m. for the second annual Downtown Cruise-Ins with the EZ Street Cruisers Car Club. Music will be provided.

This is the last day of the Rockingham County Senior Games, which is held throughout the county.

May 10

A one-person bass tournament will be held at Lake Reidsville. Pre-registration is $25 per person; $30 the day of the tournament. There will be a 6:15 a.m. start with weigh-in set for 3 p.m. Cash and trophies will be awarded. Call Lake Reidsville at 336-349-4738 for more details.

May 11

The Penn House at 324 Maple Avenue will host its annual "Mother's Day Luncheon" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The buffet luncheon requires reservations since seating is limited. Call The Penn House at 349-1099 for more details or to make a reservation. (RESERVATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.)

May 12

The Gunn Street Community Watch will meet at 10 a.m. at the apartment complex.

At 7 p.m., the Ann Ruston Community Watch will meet at the Reidsville Police Department.

May 13

The Reidsville City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Reidsville City Hall, Council Chambers, 230 W. Morehead Street, for its regular meeting.  A budget work session will be held prior to the regular meeting. The work session is set for 4:30 p.m. in the first-floor conference room of City Hall.

The Highland Heights Community Watch will meet at the Reidsville Police Department, 220 W. Morehead St.

May 15

At noon, Dr. Thompson, an area chiropractor, will be the guest speaker at the Reidsville Senior Center on "Living with Arthritis." Call 349-1088 for details.

May 16

The Hobart Jackson Community Watch will meet at 11:30 a.m. on site.

May 19

The Historical/West End Community Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Penn House, 324 Maple Street.

May 20

The Racetrack Community Watch will meet at 6 p.m. on site.

The Reidsville Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of City Hall, 230 W. Morehead Street.

The Courtland Park Community Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Reidsville Police Department., second-floor training room.

May 21

The Reidsville Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at Reidsville City Hall, 230 W. Morehead Street.

May 22

The Reidsville Appearance Commission will meet at 4:30 p.m. in the first-floor conference room of City Hall, 230 W. Morehead St.

The Oaks Park Community Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Reidsville Police Department.

May 23

Lake Reidsville is making plans for the Memorial Day weekend. Call 336-349-4738 for details..

May 27

The Eagle Eyes Community Watch will meet at 6 p.m. at Community Baptist Church on Triangle Road.

The Human Relations Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the first-floor conference room of City Hall, 230 W. Morehead Street.

The Montgomery Street Community Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army.

May 30

Today is the deadline for anyone wishing to apply for Reidsville's Boards and Commissions for consideration at the City Council's June 10th Council meeting. Applications must be received in City Manager's Office by 5 p.m.
